Everything you need to understand how to join the Mayine ecosystem — from your first certification through to independent or licensed practice.
Before any specialisation, before any membership, before any retreat or school programme — there is one certification that anchors everything in the Mayine ecosystem. The Nomveliso Mbanga Teencoaching™ certification (CIAT™) is not just a course. It is a methodology. It gives you a complete system — rooted in African indigenous knowledge — for working with young people aged 9 to 17.
Every specialisation in the Mayine ecosystem — coaching young adults, coaching parents, retreat facilitation, school programmes — is built on the CIAT™ foundation. You cannot skip this step. The methodology is indivisible: you learn the whole system first, then extend into your specific area of focus.
After CIAT™, you can extend your practice into one or more specialisation tracks. Each track requires a minimum of 40 documented teen coaching hours post-CIAT™ before enrolment. Each earns a separate credential and authorises you to work with that specific demographic.
For coaches who want to work with young people aged 18–25 navigating purpose, career, and the transition into adult life. A completely different developmental register from teen coaching — and one that requires specific methodology.
→ Prerequisite: CIAT™ + 40 documented teen coaching hoursFor coaches who want to work with parents — helping them understand their teenagers, break generational patterns, and build the kind of relationship with their child that makes development possible. The Indigenously Parenting™ methodology.
→ Prerequisite: CIAT™ + 40 documented teen coaching hoursYes. ICA™ and CIPC™ can both be completed after CIAT™ — either sequentially or, in some cases, concurrently if your practice capacity allows. Discuss sequencing with Penny during your onboarding.
If you are a registered social worker, psychologist, or therapist, there is a separate entry pathway into the Mayine ecosystem that does not require CIAT™ first. This is a clinical psychosocial practitioner track — not a coaching certification. It is built on indigenous African frameworks and is designed for professionals who already hold clinical registration.
A 6-month structured clinical pathway that integrates indigenous African psychosocial frameworks into your existing practice. Built for professionals who already work therapeutically with young people and want a culturally grounded model behind their interventions.
→ Prerequisite: SACSSP or HPCSA registration. CIAT™ is NOT required.AITPPM™ is a clinical track — not a coaching certification. It does not authorise the holder to use Teencoaching™ coaching titles. It authorises the delivery of indigenous-rooted psychosocial interventions within a clinical scope of practice. If you later want to add the CIAT™ coaching credential, that pathway exists — speak to Penny about partial credit options.
Once you complete CIAT™ (or AITPPM™ for clinical practitioners), you have a choice. This is a genuine fork — neither path is better than the other. The right path depends on what you want to build and how you want to work.
If you want to present yourself as a "Certified Identity-Anchored Teencoach™" or use any other Mayine trademarked title in your marketing, you must be a Licensed Associate with a current trademark licence. Using the titles without the licence is a trademark infringement. Independent coaches retain their certification credential — they simply practise under their own brand without the Mayine titles.
Once you are a Licensed Associate in MaGICA™, your membership gives you access to a growing set of income and development opportunities — beyond your own private practice.
When the founder's 1-on-1 roster is full, enquiries are referred to you at R2,500/session — you keep 60% (R1,500). Higher than your independent rate of R1,200.
After completing the Retreat Facilitator Specialisation™ (R95,000), you can license the right to deliver Mayine retreats in your province. One licence per province — exclusive territory.
Formally adopt schools in your region and deliver the Teencoaching-in-Residence™ programme — a mix of talks, group coaching, and 1-on-1. Monthly school retainer model (R7,000–R9,000/month). 60/40 split.
Lead Coaching Supervisor (appointed annually by the founder) and Regional Principal™ (after 3 years + 600 hours) — unlocking Train-the-Trainer access and certification facilitation income.
Full detail on all of the above is in the Licensed Associate Membership Hub — ask Penny for the document.
From your first certification through to Master Trainer™ — every stage, every gate. The clinical track runs as a parallel lane from Stage 1 onwards.
